| Who
is Bill Wilson? I'll
keep this relatively short...there's more info you can link to later
on if you're a glutton for punishment. I'm one of those three career
guys:
- Professional speaker and trainer
since 1988.
- Internet geek and web designer since
1996.
- Virtual university director since
1999.
Actually, my career goes back to 1973
when I entered the insurance industry (zzzzzzz...just kidding) out of
college, and much of what I do now evolved from my experiences as an
insurance trainer. The skills I've learned in instruction,
presentation, and document design have also translated well to the
World Wide Web. So, here's an overview of each of the three areas
above and how they tie into this web site.
Professional Speaker
and Trainer
After a number of years in management, I made a career move into
something I love...professional speaking. I've done presentations,
seminars and workshops from Hawaii to Rhode Island and have spoken at
dozens of state and national conventions. Over the years, my speaker
ratings (on a 10-point scale) have averaged over 9.7 and I've been the
top rated speaker at national conventions on more than one occasion
(beating out Catherine Crier, Colin Powell, and Barbara Bush to name
three :-).
For more information about the programs
I do, click on the Seminars
& Workshops link on the menu to the left. On the
"Free Info!" menu to the right, you'll also find articles,
tutorials and tips on Presentation
Skills. In addition, check out the Time
Management article listed on the
"Free Info!" menu...I'll be adding a complete section on
this subject in the near future.
Internet Geek and
Web Designer
I've been an active internet user since 1996 and do several workshops
on the subjects of using the internet more effectively and building a
web site that works. For more information, check out the Seminars
& Workshops link on the menu to the left. In the
future, I'll be providing a lot of information about the internet on
this web site but, in the meantime, check out some articles on The
Internet and a tutorial on
Web
Site Design on the "Free Info!" menu to the
right.
My web site design practice began as a
hobby when I created my first personal web site at www.BrightPath.com,
followed by web sites at www.BillsWebWorks.com,
www.LearnNothing.com,
www.DanielZone.com,
the M.L.C.
Band, and others. This experience, along with my background
in insurance training, led me to my "day" job as a....
Virtual University
Director
In 1998, I pitched the idea to a national trade association of
building an online insurance university. They bought the idea and
hired me to do it. With a background of teaching insurance and writing
hundreds of articles on the subject, in 1999 I began creating a Virtual
University (click to visit the web site) and I'm still at
it. If you're interested in this concept, at some point (as you can
see from the inactive link on the "Free Info!" menu) I'll be
adding a section on Distance Learning. In the meantime, I do a program
on this subject that you can review in the Seminars
& Workshops section.
Other Interests
For years, I've used quotations in my speaking and writing. If you
click on the Quotations
link on the "Free Info!" menu, you'll discover an AMAZING
resource! Also, after years on the internet, I've bookmarked literally
thousands of incredible web sites...in the near future, as you can see
on the "Free Info!" menu, I'm going to create an Ultimate
Links page. Finally, not that it has anything to do with this web
site, I'm an avid electric blues guitar player and a huge fan of Grand
Funk Railroad!

lots of details and a healthy dose of hyperbole (not to mention my
